D-Day Tours

Students, parents, families and friends of TSCS are invited to join the 3rd annual,

TSCS Student Summer Travel Experience 2023; May 31- June 11, 2023; highlighting 79th D-Day Festival Normandy

The 2023 summer journey includes visits to Holland, Belgium, France. Highlighting the history, sacrifice and significance of WWII in the most popular Europe capitals of Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris. *Special Bonus- attend the 79th D-Day Festival Normandy.

Each year TSCS and LutherTours custom-design a unique travel itinerary filled with exciting activities, fascinating special events and educational sightseeing. Your TSCS staff and administration will accompany the group, providing chaperones and qualified adult supervision for students from the day of departure until the return flight home. A LutherTours professional European Tour Manager will accompany the group while in Europe to ensure a care-free and relaxing tour experience from arrival until your departure.

Parents are welcome to join the fun and share this life-enriching European travel experience with your students. Enjoy visits to some of Europe’s world-famous art museums to view the spectacular works of art from the great art masters, visit and worship in sacred churches of our Christian forefathers, take a “step back in time” to a medieval village and the awe-inspiring architecture of the 16th century, and discover the delicious art of chocolate making and tastings of a variety of chocolates! Stroll along quaint canals, historic waterways and cobblestoned streets of these European capitals and learn more about the Second World War; WWII- the significance and sacrifice.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Depart U.S.A.  

Day 2 Arrive Amsterdam, Holland (Dinner)

Upon our early morning arrival at Amsterdam International airport, you will collect your luggage and be met by our professional tour manager who will accompany the group throughout the journey. The tour manager will escort you to the awaiting private deluxe air-conditioned motor coach. You begin your journey with a scenic transfer to the city center of Amsterdam and a 2.5-hours guided sightseeing and walking tour to learn more about the beautiful city of Amsterdam, and of the time during the Second World War (WWII) and the German occupation of Amsterdam. Afterwards the group will check-in to our hotel for the next two nights. This evening our group will meet for dinner. Overnight Amsterdam

Day 3 Amsterdam (Breakfast)

After breakfast at the hotel the group will enjoy a private guided tour of the Van Gogh Museum and private guided tour of the Anne Frank Museum. Time allowed in the afternoon for individual exploration. Overnight Amsterdam

Day 4 Bruges and Brussels, Belgium (Breakfast, Dinner)

Today the group will travel by private motor coach to Brussels, Belgium. Along the way visit the medieval city of Bruges. A local guide will share the history of this fascinating city including the market square, belfry and a visit to the Church of Our Lady to view the sculpture “Madonna and Child” by Michelangelo. Afterwards the group continues on to Brussels where we check-in to our hotel for the next two nights. This evening the group will meet for dinner. Overnight Brussels

Day 5 Brussels, Sunday Worship Service (Breakfast)

Our day begins with morning worship service at a local churches. Afterwards, the group will be joining by a local guide for a WWII theme guided walking tour including visits to Church of Laken (where the Belgian kings/queens are buried), St. Michaels Cathedral, the St. Nicolas Church and the National Basillica of the Sacred Heart- largest art deco basilica in Europe.  This afternoon enjoy a chocolate shop factory visit for chocolate tastings and to learn more about the art of making delicious chocolate in Belgium!  Later this afternoon is at leisure.  Overnight Brussels

Day 6 Scourmont Abbey Chimay, Normandy France (Breakfast, Lunch)

Early morning departure from Brussels for our drive to Normandy, France and the 79th D-Day Festival we are looking forward to celebrating! Along the way, a stop to visit Chimay Scourmont Abbey. Tour the abbey and learn more about the history of the abbey and it’s world-famous beer-making. Lunch included (and beer tasting for those 18+ yrs). Afterwards we continue on to Normandy. Day 7 Normandy France, 79th D-Day Festival Normandy (Breakfast)

The Allied landings on the beaches of Normandy marked the start of a long (nearly 3-months) and costly campaign to liberate north-west Europe from Nazi occupation during WWII. The invasion of northern France in 1944 was the most significant victory of the Western Allies in the Second World War.

Today’s activity includes a full day historical guided visits to Caen Memorial, D-Day Museum Arromanches, US Cemetery at Omaha Beach, St. Laurent-sur-Mer and the Ranger Monument at Pointe du Hoc.

The group will participate in the 79th D-Day Celebration Festival. Historical site visits, museums, events and activities will be determined based on the Normandy D-Day Festival committee planners final announcement of festival details. Overnight Normandy Region

Day 8 Rouen Worship Service, Paris (Breakfast, Dinner)

Early morning departure to nearby Rouen.  The group will meet a local guide in Rouen for a walking tour of the city including worship service Rouen Cathedral Notre Dame and visit to the square where Joan of Arc was martyred. Afterwards the group will continue on to Paris along the way relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the Seine Valley’s dramatic white cliffs. Photo stop to view the hilltop ruins of Chateau-Gaillard, former stronghold of Richard the Lionhearted.  The group will check-in to the hotel for the next 4-nights and this evening meet for dinner.  Overnight Paris

Day 9 Paris (Breakfast)

Awake in the “City of Lights” Paris! After breakfast the group will enjoy a full day of sightseeing filled with the traditional Paris landmarks, Champs Elysees, the Arc the Triomphe, Tour Eiffel and learn more about the historical significance of WWII during the German occupation in Paris and the liberation of France that followed after D-Day. Day 10 Versailles Palace and Gardens, Paris (Breakfast)

Today you will experience Paris public transport by train. Your group tour manager will escort the group to the train station for a short ride to the city of Versailles. Here you will visit the Palace of Versailles and Gardens, former royal residence built by King Louis XIV. A World Heritage Site for over 40 years and one of the greatest achievements in French 17th century art. The group will enjoy a private guided tour of the palace and afterwards have time at leisure to stroll the beautiful gardens and visit the cafe’ for a refreshing beverage or lunch on your own. Your tour manager will escort the group to the train station for the train ride back to Paris. Overnight Paris

Day 11 Paris at Leisure (Breakfast)

Today will be at leisure. You will have options to enjoy the city with one of the TSCS chaperones to revisit some of the sites or monuments seen on the sightseeing tour, or one of the many museums or galleries. Options advised by TSCS chaperones. Or, enjoy the city with your family for those students who are accompanied by an adult. Overnight Paris

Day 12 Departure to USA, Tour Ends (B)

This morning after breakfast the group will be transferred by private motor coach from the hotel to the Paris airport for return flight.

All travelers must travel with a valid passport, valid for at least 6-months beyond the return travel date.

Most sightseeing tours are walking tours and the historic sites you will visit date back hundreds of years and may not provide such amenities as elevators and ramps for the physically challenged. If you or you will be traveling with someone who has special needs (use a wheelchair, walker), hearing or visually impaired please contact LutherTours.

Tour Gratuities approx. $100 per person.  Travel Insurance from $370 per person. Passport fees and visa fee for non-US passport holders. Additional travel requirements due to new regulations or conditions, expenses associated with tests or other necessary requirements pertaining to COVID-19. Meals and beverages not listed in itinerary, personal items such as internet, Wi-Fi charges, phone calls. Any expenses not specifically listed under tour package included features.
